It was reported that a family of Indonesian nationals was on a fishing outing near a stream in Jalan KP 4/9, Kota Perdana, on Sunday (March 31). The outing ended tragically when a surge of water swept away the entire family.
The family had ventured out fishing to supplement their income, but they were caught in a strong current from the monsoon drain with a depth of 1.2 meters. The husband managed to save himself and contacted the authorities. While his second son climbed to safety on the right side of the drain before being rescued. However, the body of his eldest son was found a kilometre away from the location and was transported to Serdang Hospital.
Unfortunately, the wife and their 4-year-old daughter are still missing. The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department utilized the Canine Detection Unit (K9) services to locate them yesterday.
Assistant Director of Operations of the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar, stated that the two canines involved were Lady, a Labrador Retriever, and Cross, an English Springer Spaniel. He mentioned that 13 Serdang Fire and Rescue Station members were deployed to the incident location.
"The rescue team was divided into three groups to search an area of up to 6 kilometres from the victims' location," he said in a statement today.
Serdang OCPD Asst Comm AA Anbalagan reported that the wife's body was discovered earlier today (Monday) afternoon at 12.17 pm near Taman Lacattage, Putra Perdana. Her body was found 10km away from the incident location and was confirmed to have drowned. However, their 4-year-old daughter is still missing, and search efforts are ongoing.
