A 36-year-old man was apprehended on January 21 after allegedly threatening to stab a 31-year-old woman and his ex-wife. The incident stemmed from his dissatisfaction over their frequent outings together without his approval.
The arrest took place near a food stall on Chen Fook Road at 4:20 PM, according to a report by Harian Metro. Tawau District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Jasmin Hussin provided details of the case, stating that the suspect had contacted the victim around 10 PM on January 17 to issue the threats.
During the call, the unemployed man expressed anger, accusing the woman of spending too much time with his ex-wife. He warned that he intended to harm both of them. Fearing for their safety, the victim lodged a police report.
Acting on the report, authorities tracked the suspect and detained him, confiscating a mobile phone as evidence. Jasmin also revealed that the suspect has a history of criminal activity, including two prior records for drug abuse and a previous arrest for trespassing.
The suspect is currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which pertains to criminal intimidation.
