A 46-year-old Indian man jumped allegedly getting depressed over not getting liquor during the lockdown, jumped into a well and refused to come out. The police had to promise to bring him liquor before he agreed to be rescued.

According to China Press, Manavalan, a 46-year-old daily wage laborer, was addicted to alcohol. Ever since the lockdown in India takes effect, he became depressed for not being able to get liquor. After a fight with others on April 6, Manavalan jumped into a 25-ft-deep well in front of his house around 8.30 pm. His neighbors knew he could swim, yet they called the police anyway.
Manavalan appeared to not seriously injured, however, he refused to come out of the well unless he got his liquor. The police had to spend 2 hours talking to him before he finally agreed to be rescued because they promised to buy him the liquor.
