Japanese voice actress Kumiko Okae, most notable for her role as Officer Jenny in ‘Pokémon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew’, has just passed away recently due to complications linked to the coronavirus. She was 63 years old.
Okae was hospitalized on April 3 because of high fever and was then tested positive for the virus. Prior to this, she had underwent a surgery for breast cancer and received radiation therapy.

Apart from her voice work in Pokémon, Okae’s voice credits that had her name internationally known include Naoko in Studio Ghibli’s ‘The Cat Returns’ and Elina in ‘The Dog of Flanders’. She was also Ryouko in the live-action of the manga series ‘Attack No. 1’.
Okae started her career in the TBS Television's Omitsu in 1975, and her most recent works include ‘My Lover’s Secret’ and ‘Lucky Seven’.
