Port Dickson: An Indian man is believed to have been stabbed to death after arguing with a friend at a house in Taman Happy Jalan Pantai Batu 1, here, last night.
In the 12.30am incident, the victim was believed to be drinking alcohol in the room of the suspect, a Pakistani man on the top floor of the residence.
Port Dickson District Police Chief, Superintendent Aidi Sham Mohamed said, there was an argument between the victim and the suspect, before the victim was stabbed with a knife.
"The victim was pronounced dead in the kitchen on the ground floor of the house by the Port Dickson Hospital Medical Officer at 1.50am," he said in a statement here today.
Following that, Aidi Sham said, they arrested a 26-year-old Pakistani man in front of the house.
"The new victim has been working in Port Dickson for the past year. The autopsy will be conducted at Tuanku Jaafar Hospital (HTJ) Seremban, tomorrow," he said.
According to him, the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries a death sentence
He said the police also confiscated clothes, a mobile phone and a knife measuring about 30 centimeters belonging to the suspect which was believed to have been used to stab the victim.
"The suspect is a general worker who is also the victim's housemate. The suspect has been taken to the Seremban Magistrate's Court and remanded for seven days starting today until January 9.
"The police investigation found that the 22-year-old deceased was of Punjab descent and was from India and worked at the same place as the suspect.
