A social media user @chairman_GLC shared a heartwrenching anecdote from a doctor in Kelantan about a teen who was abandoned by her family for the most outrageous reasons, which sparked a public outrage among Malaysians.
According to the doctor in charge of the teen's case, she was raped by her 16-year-old brother and is now 28 weeks pregnant, as a result. However, Instead of providing her with the guidance and support she needs, her parents made a hasty decision to send her away to live with foster parents, whom she barely knows.

In order to protect the brother's image, the pregnant teen was sent away by the parents, completely deprived of any physical or virtual contact with her family back home. The parents are simply refusing to visit her and they have forbidden her to come home until after the child she bears is born.
According to the doctor, the parents had initially lodged a police report, however, they retracted it at the very last minute in order to protect their son. The parents have since been sent to a religious school while the pregnant teen hasn't seen her family since last November, which adds more to the emotional heaviness that the teen is forced to deal with on her own.
Final update for today: JKM is already involved in this case. And I was told that police report has also been lodged in the previous hospital and clinic (this doctor only takes care of her antenatal). Let us pray for the wellbeing of this girl.
According to @chairman_GLC, the case has caught the attention of the Ministry of Health, and they are now handling it. Malaysians did not hold back on their stances regarding this absurd case.

The culture of victim-blaming and toxic patriarchy, in this case, is gravely concerning. A 13-year-old child will no longer be able to taste the sweetness of childhood and is now forced to carry the burden that was never hers to endure alone. The parents should've fought for their daughter instead of protecting their son-- the actual villain in this case.
