PETALING JAYA - The phenomenon of big waves, heavy rain and strong winds that occur in several areas of the east coast state at this time has caused many tourists visiting Pulau Perhentian to be trapped on the island.
Several videos showed that people are still unable to return to the mainland because boat activities had to be postponed following bad weather.
A TikTok user, Anis Khairudin, uploaded a video showing the strong waves that were pounding the area around the island.
She said he and several other individuals were still trapped on the island and hoped the public could pray for their safety.
"Trapped on Perhentian Island, pray for us. Strong waves, strong winds since last February 24," she said.
Meanwhile, she managed to capture moments when strong waves hit the jetty, causing many to worry if the area was damaged and further complicate the process for them to return.
In addition, looking at the video shared by other visitors, it is understood that they have been stranded on the island for about five days since leaving there for a holiday.
Stepping into the comments section, most netizens prayed for the safety of the victims stranded there and reminded others not to visit the island area and postpone all water activities for a while.

Earlier, the chairman of the Pulau Perhentian Resort and Tourism Operators Association, Abdul Aziz Che Abdullah, said about 400 tourists were stranded in Pulau Perhentian, Besut.
He said it involved 385 people including 18 children who were local tourists.
"They were stranded after the boat service to return to land had to be stopped temporarily due to rough seas and strong waves.
"Currently, all stranded tourists have to stay at 19 hotels and resorts on the resort island while waiting for the weather to improve," he said when contacted here yesterday.
