A new behind-the-scenes featurette for Extraction 2 promises thrills, spills and bigger action sequences than ever before.
The making-of featurette was introduced by star Chris Hemsworth, who plays the movie's mercenary protagonist, Tyler Rake. "A lot of blood, sweat and tears went into the making of this movie," Hemsworth says before introducing the clip.
In the clip, Hemsworth's voice reminds us, "There's a moment when you say to yourself it can't be done, but instead of backing down, you push yourself forward into the unknown." That's certainly what Hemsworth and director Sam Hargrave seem to have done for this movie, with Hargrave telling the camera, "With the '2' behind your [movies] name, you have to bring at least twice the action."
While the first Extraction had a massive action sequence shot to look as if it was done all in one take, the second movie has a sequence that's somehow even bigger – a real helicopter landing on a moving train. Hargrave calls it "more intricate and more extreme" than anything we've seen before, and as leading man Hemsworth put it, that's "pretty damn exciting."
Elsewhere in the featurette, viewers get quick glimpses at fleeing crowds of extras, special camera rigs configured to catch the most action and more than a few explosions. "The landscape is ever evolving," Hemsworth's voice-over intones. "Everything that got me here doesn't mean a thing unless you can do it bigger and better than before."
Look for Extraction 2 to do just that when it comes to Netflix sometime in 2023.
