According to a report, the incident took place as Mr Lee, the man in question, was driving on the highway en route to Mid Valley. Along the journey, he encountered three motorcyclists who flagged him down with hand gestures indicating a tyre burst. Subsequently, another motorcycle carrying two individuals joined in the interception.

However, Mr Lee wisely chose not to halt immediately but instead drove to a safe location to thoroughly inspect his car. After a careful examination, he found no signs of any tyre issues and decided to visit a nearby tyre shop for further verification.

It was at the tyre shop where he discovered that his tyres were perfectly fine. To his surprise, the shop owner revealed that similar incidents had been occurring recently, suggesting that scammers might deceive victims by falsely claiming flat tyres or spraying oil on the tyres to fabricate an oil leak.

Reflecting on the incident, Mr Lee shared his speculation on social media, expressing his realization that he might have fallen victim to a potential robbery if he had stopped abruptly.

He took the opportunity to warn fellow netizens about these fraudulent tactics employed by criminals, urging them to remain vigilant and avoid becoming victims of such scams.

Some questioned whether drivers could truly be unaware of tyre bursts, while others pointed out that this scam has been around for over a decade.

While there are still good-hearted individuals who genuinely offer assistance, it is crucial to remain cautious. When encountering such situations, it is advisable to proceed to a safe location before inspecting your vehicle thoroughly. Stay alert and stay safe!
