A TikTok video posted by user @amirafiq73 on September 26th has gone viral, showing dashcam footage of a woman stranded at a SUKE Highway toll due to an expired Touch n Go card. The incident, which occurred on September 24th at 3 p.m., has fueled frustration over the lack of payment options and assistance available on the highway.
In the video, the driver is seen standing beside her car, asking for help after discovering her Touch n Go card had expired. She inquired about using a credit card to pay the toll but was informed that it wasn't possible. There was also no top-up booth in sight for her to top-up her IC.
While the poster is trying to help the poor lady to get passed the toll, a SUKE highway worker is spotted sitting near the toll but appears not to offer any help.
The poster shared the video to highlight the poor planning of SUKE, as the toll is located at a high point on the flyover with no alternative payment options or top-up booth. This could potentially trap drivers with insufficient credit in their TnG card, as there is no way to turn back.
"This is wrong. Even though the aunty has her IC, there's no place for her to top up at the toll. And just to remind you, we're at a height equivalent to the 7th floor, so theres no way to turn back," the poster commented.
Netizens quickly voiced their frustrations over the incident, many pointing out the need for more comprehensive toll payment systems. One user commented:
"There are so many different payment methods at tolls now. They should standardize them across all lanes."
Others shared similar experiences, with one user criticizing SUKE staff:
"Previously, I went to a toll booth with an attendant to pay cash. I waited a long time before the attendant finally opened the window. He reminded me to top up my TnG before passing through the toll. However, the real problem was that the top-up kiosk at SUKE was out of service. They should have checked their kiosk in the first place."
The video has sparked a wider conversation about the highway's toll infrastructure, especially concerning older drivers or those less familiar with digital payment methods. Calls for additional payment options at toll booths and improved customer service from highway staff are gaining momentum.
As the video continues to gain attention, users are waiting to see if SUKE management will respond to the growing concerns from drivers.
