A bomb explosion near the Mueang Pattani district police station in Pattani province, Southern Thailand, injured a Malaysian man and six volunteer defence personnel this morning.
The incident occurred around 8:00 AM after a police parade at the station, according to Mueang Pattani police chief Jeffery Sulaiman.
"Initial investigations revealed that the bomb was believed to have been attached to a motorcycle parked near the police station," Jeffery said during a press briefing at the scene.
The 20-year-old Malaysian victim, who hails from Kuala Lumpur, was injured by shattered glass from the explosion. He was sitting in his car waiting for his wife, who was filing a report on missing travel documents at the police station when the blast occurred.
"The victim's car was only about 10 meters from the explosion site, and the vehicle's windows shattered due to the blast impact," Jeffery added.
All seven injured individuals, including the Malaysian man and six volunteer defence personnel, were immediately rushed to Pattani Hospital for treatment.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident and working to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
