A condominium unit on Jalan San Peng was completely destroyed in a fire that broke out on Tuesday night (January 28), leaving residents and onlookers in shock.
According to a report by Kosmo, the Kuala Lumpur Operations Centre (PGO KL) received an emergency call about the blaze at approximately 10:01pm. Responding swiftly, a team of 24 firefighters from the Jalan Hang Tuah and Pudu Fire and Rescue Stations, along with their firefighting equipment, were dispatched to the scene.
Senior Operations Commander PKPgB Mohd. Suhaimi Mohd. Razali confirmed that upon their arrival, a unit on the 22nd floor was already engulfed in flames and was completely destroyed. Firefighters employed both 'offensive' and 'defensive' firefighting techniques to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent units.
The operation was successfully concluded, and the fire was fully extinguished by 11:27pm. Authorities confirmed that there were no casualties reported in the incident. However, the cause of the fire remains under investigation by the forensic unit.
Prior to official reports, videos of the incident circulated widely on social media. Many speculated that the fire may have been triggered by fireworks, as loud popping sounds and flashes of light were reportedly seen coming from the burning unit's balcony.
