5 telltale signs you‘re mentally exhausted

Mental exhaustion is very real and it happens even to the best of us. Life's literally a rollercoaster ride (no pun intended). When the lows outnumbered the highs, it leaves you with an empty feeling, you feel lost and drained. 

Here's 5 signs that you are mentally exhausted:

1. TIRED

You're constantly lethargic. You had sufficient sleep but you still woke up tired. Your energy's low despite having caffeine or food intake. You're basically a deflated balloon at any time of the day. This constant state of tired is your body's way of telling you that you're mentally exhausted and in need of much rest.

2. UNMOTIVATED

Things that usually sparks interest seem to be mundane. Your goals and ambitions has taken a back seat when compared to before, where you'd reminded yourself what were your goals every day. You used to be passionate about life but now you're just burnt out at every levels. You started to procrastinate, daily chores/tasks became a hassle.

3. PANGS OF ANXIETY

Your self-confidence level decreases. You unnecessarily question each decision you made. You're acting harshly on yourself all the time. This causes you to feel stressed, even on the most trivial matter.

4. INSOMNIA

Stress causes you to find it difficult to sleep. You lay awake in your bed hours and hours, tossing and turning to find the right spot to lull you off to sleep. Even if you managed to sleep, some random thoughts will cross your mind and knock you back into wakefulness. In other words, your sleep quality is very poor.

5. INDIGESTION/STOMACH PROBLEMS

There is a close relation between the brain and stomach. When you're mentally exhausted, it leads to an increase of acid in the stomach which in turn causes indigestion or heart burns. Our stomach relies on good bacteria to break down food and if you're stress, this may lead to an imbalance of good and bad bacteria which further hinders the digestion process.
