Yesterday, you were so happy to go for a romantic dinner with him. Suddenly, the government is enforcing MCO & is that the last time you will see him? He is just 10 minutes away from you, but you can't meet him. It starts well with a constant message on a good night call. 60 days later there is no sight that the MCO will end soon & you barely hear from him. Is not his fault, though. There's just nothing else to talk about because your life is so redundant with the same activities all the time. So yes, MCO is today long-distance relationship: he is there & you are here.
How can your relationship survive during this MCO period? We believe your relationship will survive this MCO period with a lot of efforts, patience & tolerance from both of you.
1. Effort
Both of you have to make a lot of effort to be productive at home by involving new activities. Start the day by being grateful that you are still alive, have each other full of love & a job that ensures you can sustain your life during this MCO period. Then, focus all your energy into your work & take a break or lunch hour to catch up with each other. When night comes, learn a new skill & share with each other on the challenges as well as benefits that you have gained from the new skill.
2. Patience
Yes, MCO & quarantine at home can make you overthink & that contributes to depression. Don't keep it to yourself. Write it out or say it out to each other. Focus & be patient while listening to each other without jumping out to give comments or solutions. Sometimes, you know the solution or you know you have no power to change it. It just you want someone to listen to you & so does him.
3. Tolerance
No one can avoid a bad day. It happens in life especially during this MCO period where everyone feels so stressed, pressure, irritated, annoyed & angry almost all the time. There will be time, you will be shouting at him or he will be shouting at you. Remain calm! Yes, don't take it to your heart but learn to see from each other perspective & understand the situation. Never hold a grudge & just move on with life.
We know MCO is a tough time & everything seems so fragile. However, this MCO period will end soon. All you need to do is stay strong & stay safe for each other.
