What with the pandemic, being stuck at home, not having much of a social life, a will to go on everyday and all that, it is without a doubt proper sleeping schedules have been very much flung out the window.
The days seem to be nights and nights are days. Good news, to do whatever it is you want (indoors of course), bad news, this unfortunately messes up everything else.
How so? Here are 7 things which WILL go wrong when you do not have enough/proper sleep.
1. Mood swings
Not having enough sleep, in one way or another can put a person in a foul mood. From being grumpy, irritated, depressed, or just indifferent to the world outside, not giving yourself enough rest has definitely proven to deteriorate a person, mentally and emotionally.
2. Caffeine-high
Number 2: A coffee addiction. As means to not feel sleepy, or to stay awake, less sleep equals more coffee, which may sound harmless, but it's really not. Too much of anything is not good, caffeine included. It can cause insomnia, nervousness, anxiety, chest aches, so on and so forth.
3. Pigging-out
A lesser/improper amount of sleep could also result in irregular eating times, or the consumption of more junk food. Barely in need of an explanation, this is just downright bad for your body.
4. Breakouts
What every person, man or woman, hate the most; breakouts. Believe it or not, a person with not enough sleep, is more prone to getting breakouts, pimples, acne, etc. as compared to one who sleeps well and regularly.
5. Weight-gain
All that irregular eating and extravagant junk food, has to go somewhere right? Yes, exactly to all the places you wouldn't want them to. It is scientifically proven that a screwed up sleep schedule, can very much so contribute to weight gain.
6. Ugly eyes
Can it get any worse? Yes, yes it can. On top of breakouts and weight gain, less sleep means ugly eyes. Dark circles, puffy eyes, red eyes, watery eyes, and eyebags which weigh more than the baggage limit at the airport, you do not want this.
7. Slow-mo brain
Last but not least, having everything else move so much slower than it already is. Constantly in a metaphorical fugue state, not enough sleep can have one feeling, dim and slow when it comes to thinking, or being alert to your surroundings.
We're in a pandemic, and it is understandable that life may not function as normal or as well, as it once had. Nevertheless, we need to do our best to stay healthy, now so more than ever. Thus, a proper sleeping schedule, is a good place to start.
