In December 2022, a local news outlet reported that the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) rescue team in the Kuantan district, Khairul Akmal Abdul Razak, had raised a red flag at Pantai Sepat. The red flag serves as a warning symbol to prevent the public from swimming due to rough sea conditions and large waves, aimed at avoiding the risk of drowning.

However, it was observed that some individuals did not heed the warning. A viral video showed several people swimming at the beach, with the focus on the clearly visible red flag in the area, sparking concern among netizens.
The video has drawn anger from netizens due to the disregard shown towards the given warning. This indifference raises concerns about potential accidents such as drowning.
Furthermore, based on their observations, not only was the red flag visible, but the sea conditions were also evidently dangerous. The location and time of the incident have not been confirmed yet. Nevertheless, such actions should not be taken lightly, especially considering the numerous victims of natural disasters.
It is hoped that in the future, more people will pay attention to the red flag on the beach as it signifies a prohibition for our safety.
