Five men were detained on suspicion of involving in illegal cockfighting and defying movement control order (MCO) in Mukah, Sibu, on Tuesday (April 7).
The Mukah OCPD Dept Supt Jimmy Panyau said that there was a police team went to Jalan Ulu Bayan at around 15:10 afternoon, to check on the illegal cockfighting.
He said that the five men that were arrested aged between 53 and 71. The police team also seized 3 live roosters, 1 dead rooster, 18 plastic chairs, a plastic table, a cockfighting spur and cash worth RM 137.
The case is being investigated under Regulation 11(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020 and Section 3(1) Cruelty to Animal Act 1962.
Jimmy also urged the residents in Mukah to stay at home and follow the MCO instructions. And he warned the people that they are ready to take action against those who violated MCO.
