According to The Paper, Tian Tian’s (pseudonym) mother revealed that her daughter has always loved to drink milk tea. She has spent more than RMB 100 (about RM 60) a day to order 2 cups of milk tea for nearly one month.
Tian Tian gradually began to have symptoms such as dehydration, polyuria, and nausea a week before the onset of illness. The emergency medical staff sent Tian Tian to the Emergency Intensive Care Unit (EICU).

The medical inspection report of Tian Tian showed that she had hyperglycemia (high levels of sugar), and hyperosmolar, rhabdomyolysis, and renal failure, where almost all of them are marked in red.
With the intensive care of the medical team of the emergency, Tian Tian gradually regained consciousness after 5 days of coma.
After nearly one month of treatment in the Ruijin Hospital, Tian Tian was transferred to Nanxiang Hospital on June 1, for the next treatment.
Tian Tian's weight has also been reduced from the original 125 kg to 90 kg, a total of 35 kg. She assured the EICU medical staff that she would not drink milk tea anymore.
