It's the final countdown to Malaysia's 66th Hari Merdeka! Prepare to proudly wave your flag and display your affection for the nation at the Hari Kebangsaan Parade. Anticipating a turnout of 100,000 attendees for this year's National Day Parade, we've put together a comprehensive guide to assist you in making the most of this incredibly grand celebration.
Location & Best Seating
This year's National Day Parade will be held in Putrajaya (NOT Dataran Merdeka ya).
There will be 5 Zones/locations of seating, each with a different speciality:
Zone One:
- From Galleria building to the Gemilang Roundabout
- the assembly point for the participating contingents
Zone Two:
- Dataran Putrajaya
- Royal box, main performance stage with giant LED screen
Zone Three:
- Anjung Floria site in Precinct 4
- designated for the placement of military assets before the parade.
Zone Four:
- Parking area near the McDonalds
- accommodating 58 horses and Armed Forces artillery
Zone Five:
- Persiaran Perdana.
- Multi-level seating for up to 4,000 attendees, medical aid tents, and six screens strategically positioned to ensure those in Zone Two can still enjoy the main stage shows.
Transport & Parking
Two ways of how you can get to the event place:-
1) MRT + Shuttle Bus
Hop on to MRT and get off at Putrajaya Sentral station. Then, take the free Nadiputra Bus or RapidKL shuttle bus (MS 01) to get to the event place. The shuttle bus service will start to operate from 4 am till 2 pm. There will be one bus leaving the station every 5 minutes.
2) Car + Shuttle Bus
You also have the option of using a car, but in order to prevent traffic congestion and deal with the limited availability of parking spots, it is recommended that you utilize the specified pick-up areas and take the shuttle bus to Dataran Putrajaya.
Nadiputras buses offer two pickup locations: the Putrajaya Sentral Terminal and the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC).
Road Closure
There will be 22 road closures in and around Putrajaya during the day from 5 am to 11 am to make way for the parade.
Programme
With over 19,000 participants, this year's celebration is set out to be impressive. Here are some of the programmes to look forward to:-
- The Malaysia Madani Contingent: A blend of 1,000 participants from varied ethnic backgrounds
- The Economic Contingent: Key industry players include government-linked corporations (GLCs), government-linked investment companies (GLICs), telecommunications firms, and banking enterprises.
- Military, Police, and Ministries Assets: A collection of 516 modern technological assets like electric vehicles, tanks, and more.
- Theme Song Performance: 1,500 school students harmonizing the theme song while in synchronized formations.
- Kurik Kundi Performance: 1,000 dancers highlighting Malaysian arts and culture, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of 400 drummers, with alternating vocal parts performed by artists such as Suki Low, Jacklyn Victor, and Zizi Kirana
- VAT 69 Commando Skydiving performance: A squad of 10 VAT69 Royal Malaysia Police commandos parachuting with the national flag, landing within six minutes in front of the Palace of Justice Complex in Putrajaya.
- Aerial Display and Acrobatic Stunts: Helicopters from the security forces, along with acrobatic manoeuvres by 15 vintage motorcycles (Wira Merah) from the Malaysian Armed Forces.
- Animal Assets: 118 dogs and PDRM horses
- Antique cars: A procession of 30 vintage cars driven by individuals from across the nation
- Cosplay & Mascot: Several well-known local animation mascots and cosplayers will be here to meet the children.
- Ensure sufficient funds in your TnG cards for a seamless journey.
- The use of drones is strictly prohibited during the entire parade; any drones spotted will be taken down by the police using radio frequencies, not ammunition.
- The parade kicks off at 7 am, so arriving early is advisable to avoid missing any part of the event.
- Face mask is still advisable to keep yourself and other's safe
- Opt for comfortable attire as you'll be among a dense crowd.
- Bring a hat, cap, or umbrella to shield from the sun or potential rain.
- Don't forget to bring your Jalur Gemilang flag to wave with a sense of patriotism.
