Recently, a woman stirred up discussions across town after sharing a video demonstrating the consumption of pork in a non-halal manner. Intriguingly, some wonder if she is Muslim as she wearing a hijab but we can't be too sure. In the tutorial, she showcased a camera focused on a serving of pork meat placed atop her bowl of noodles.
She proceeded to outline a set of etiquettes that Muslims should follow when consuming non-halal food, so as to not contravene religious principles. Drawing attention to the Al-Quran's prohibition of pork consumption, she suggested that uttering "Bismillah" and reciting the Al-Fatihah prayers could render the act halal. In the video, she recited the prayers before indulging, even expressing satisfaction through audible expressions of delight over the meal's flavours.
Although the woman appears to hail from abroad rather than locally, our local netizens promptly voiced their opinions on this matter. Some emphatically criticized her actions, stating, "Go ahead and eat, you'll roast in the fires of Jahannam in the afterlife, wandering astray and leading others astray... despicable."
Others pleaded for caution, reminding fellow Muslims to deepen their religious understanding by engaging with the Quran, emphasizing that pork remains unequivocally haram and its consumption is forbidden. There were also remarks shedding light on the impurities associated with pigs, as well as the reasoning behind the prohibition on consuming them for Muslims. Analogies were drawn, connecting this situation to hypothetical elderly family members and their potential reactions.
Amidst these varying reactions, a particular comment garnered attention, insinuating that the woman in the video could be an Indonesian Christian donning the hijab for comedic effect, aiming to provoke sensitivities.
In a time when our most precious and non-renewable resource, time itself, is invested in fostering controversy and baseless animosity, it is unfortunate to witness individuals not leveraging their intellect to contribute positively to society. Instead, they perpetuate conflicts that are ultimately fruitless. As a contrast, it is suggested that those who possess wisdom should not be swayed by such provocations, but rather channel their time towards more meaningful pursuits. Let us unite in these endeavours.
