On Saturday, May 11, an old tree collapsed along Macalister Road in Penang.
According to BERNAMA, the BOMBA obtained a call for assistance from the public about 10 a.m.
When the BOMBA crew of eight arrived at the scene, they discovered two uprooted trees blocking the road, one of which collapsed into the parking spaces of a nearby building.
"There were no injuries or deaths; only five cars were damaged after being hit by the trees. The fence surrounding the building was also destroyed."
In a report by TV3, numerous Malaysians expressed relief that they were able to get out of the car just before the tree fell.
"Luckily, a few customers and I were already inside the restaurant. "We nearly became victims."
Another Malaysian stated that the tree damaged her recently purchased car of two weeks.
"I stopped here for breakfast, and then I heard a huge crash. "It damaged my new car."
The Civil Defence team, the Penang City Council team, and the volunteer BOMBA squad all pitched in to help. They all came together to cut down, remove the trees, and clean up the area.
