In a surprising turn of events, Meta's major platforms Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Messenger, and WhatsApp are experiencing a significant outage, leaving millions of users across the globe in a state of frustration.
The issues were first reported around 2 am Malaysian time, as users noticed problems ranging from apps failing to load to errors like missing comments on Facebook posts and failed content uploads. By the time reports began to surge, Downdetector recorded over 91,500 issue reports for Facebook alone, with Instagram trailing closely at nearly 68,000 complaints.
Many users reported difficulty accessing the apps, uploading media, or engaging with content. The platforms appeared either slow or entirely unresponsive, further compounding user frustration.
As the outage continued to ripple across various regions, users turned to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm whether Metas platforms were indeed experiencing widespread issues.
Despite the growing global uproar, Meta has not yet issued an official statement addressing the cause of the disruption or providing a timeline for resolution. Millions of users remain in the dark as the outage persists, eagerly awaiting updates from the tech giant.
