It seems that not everyone has an eye for art and culture. Recently, the Instagrammable Kuantan Art Street was once again subjected to vandalism.
The street is one of the tourist hotspots in the city, boasting beautifully hand-painted murals and numerous art props. However due to irresponsible vandals, several of the attractions were found damaged.
One case involved a visitor who was seen misusing the bicycle prop attached to the wall, whereby he recklessly climbed and balanced upon the wheel- in order to attain 'worthy' shots.
Meanwhile, two murals were also vandalised- a Kopitiam mural had its wooden table prop broken while the other, a hole through the wall.
Apparently, the famous Art Street isn't new to this. On March last year, the state was forced to fork out RM500,000 to repair the 200m landscape of the back alleys in Jalan Besar. CCTVs were also installed, following the vandalism on the art made by 13 local artists.
Despite the rampant and incessant acts, culprits have yet to be apprehended.
