Based on reports, 15 travellers from Malaysia, 2 foreigners included, were banned from entering the Philippines as their vaccination certs on their MySejahtera, were deemed unacceptable proof of vaccination by Philippine authorities.
Regardless of leisure, humanitarian or business purposes, yesterday (Feb 13th) all 15 had their passports confiscated by Filipino border authorities and were told that they would be deported.
Personnel also noted that travellers who were vaccinated in countries like Singapore and the United Kingdom would on the other hand, be permitted in.
After being informed that assistance would only be given Monday morning, Foreign Affairs Minister updated via tweet earlier today, how officers from the Malaysian Embassy in the Philippines went to assist the group.
"The Malaysian Embassy in Manila is currently assisting Malaysian citizens stranded at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport to enter the Philippines. The Foreign Affairs Ministry is also liaising with the relevant agencies to ensure the process runs smoothly", he wrote.
The Philippines lifted its international borders for fully vaccinated travellers last week (Feb 10th) onward.
