Stop focusing on Penang, Melacca or Kuala Lumpur! Perak is definitely one of the unpopular travel destinations in Malaysia. But how can you possibly miss out on these wonderful places in Perak? If you still can't think of a place in Perak that is worth visiting, read on and find out now!

1. Gaharu Tea Valley

The Gaharu Tea Valley is located in Gopeng. This tea valley has been in operation for 20 years. It occupies 300 acres and includes almost 200,000 Gaharu trees. You can walk around the plantation and view acres of Agarwood trees. Remember to hug the most famous tree in the valley, which is 20 years old because it is said that you will be blessed with good luck if you hugged it.

2. Ulu Geroh Rafflesia Trail

The Ulu Geroh Rafflesia Trail is located at the village of Ulu Geroh in Gopeng. This is the place where you could discover the Rafflesia, which is the largest flower in the world. This flower has a pungent odor, due to this, it is also known as the Corpse Plant. To trek along the trail, you may need the guidance of a Semai Orang Asil from the village. There are rubber plantations, durian orchards, and little local villages here. So now you don't have to travel all the way to Sarawak or Sabah to have a peek on the largest flower in the world!

3. Geological Museum

The Geological Museum was opened in 1957. This museum has seven different zones with different themes. This museum has over 600 minerals and 150 specimens of different rocks, 200 varieties of gemstones, as well as 200 fossils here. Besides, you could understand how different geological structures are formed and the history of mining in Ipoh. You may request guided tours if you want to know more about the artifacts or you can go it alone and wander around at your leisure.

4. Old Town Ipoh

Just like Penang, Ipoh also has its world-famous street art. Some of the mural arts are the work of Ernest Zacharevic. Apart from these, take some time to walk down the hidden alleys of the old town for some less well-known gems hidden throughout the city.

5. Ipoh Heritage Trail

Ipoh is known for its culture and ancient buildings. The trail takes around two or three hours and will bring you past all the most famous colonial buildings in the city as well as a number of shophouses that date from the Second World War. You can either take a guided tour of the trail or there is a self-guided version available.

6. Funtasy House

Funtasy House Trick Art is a gallery in Ipoh that has spectacular paintings and murals that look as if they are three-dimensional. You will find around 20 different works of art here that trick the viewers into thinking that they have stepped into a magical three-dimensional world.
