Australian Capital Territory Minister declared an emergency state and temporarily closed down a large number of schools and roads after suffering a fire for several months last year. This is the first time that the Australian capital has entered a state of emergency since 2003. In addition to the fire, another crisis faced by the Australians now is the bat invasion.

As you might have known, the Australian fire killed many animals while the escaped creatures have lost their original habitat and they are forced to move to the city to search for food. Among the escaped creatures, the most terrifying creature was the "Poison King" bat.

In Brisbane, 250,000 bats are hovering densely in the air, and Bungari also has 150,000 bats invading. This condition has stopped helicopter from landing. Almost all important places such as kindergartens, elementary schools, kindergartens, and hospitals were covered by bats, and even rescue planes were surrounded by these bats and were under attacked.

Why is the bat known as the "Poison King"?

Anyone who has noticed the news of the Wuhan Coronavirus pandemic knows that bats are one of the important factors that caused this disease. The bats have a body temperature of more than 40°C throughout the year and carry more than 100 different kinds of severe viruses.

They can live for more than 30 years. If they move to the city in large numbers, it will bring a disaster to humans.

According to many sources, the natural host of dangerous viruses, such as Ebola and SARS, are bats. The viruses carried by bats will indirectly affect market personnel and people who like to consume wild animals while small mammals, such as civet cats and salamanders, are brought to the wild animal market for consumption purposes.

The species of bats found in Australia

Most of the bat species in Australia are vampire bats that feed on blood. They usually inhabit in the caves, rock cracks of ancient mines. Hence, these bats carry many viruses on their bodies. This makes the residents in big cities like Queensland and Brisbane worried that these bats will attack humans or cause more terrible diseases than the new virus.

Other than vampire bats, flying foxes (as shown in the picture below) are also found in Australia and they are the host of rabies (a.k.a. mad dog disease) and Hendra virus. These bats carry tons of bat feces that have stinky smells. Besides, their feces and carcasses may increase the risk of disease transmission. There is also a giant 'dog-head' bat (as shown in the last picture)  in Australia. When their wings are spread out, it can exceed 1.5 meters, which is equivalent to the height of a schoolboy.

Reminder: Stop hunting wild animals for consumption. Other than health purposes, it is also an action to preserve wild animals, especially those facing extinction problems.
