A video that shows the Pudu area coming under lockdown has gone viral on the internet late last night. In the video uploaded by a resident who lives there, the police and army are seen on the streets of the area in full protective gear. The security forces have also set up barbed wire fences at several road exits.
The affected roads include Jalan Pudu, Jalan Landak, Jalan Kancil, Lorong Brunei 2 and Lorong Brunei 3, reports China Press.
It was then believed that the area has been placed under enhanced movement control order (EMCO).

However, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim later confirmed that although the area was cordoned off, it was not under the EMCO. Instead, that was just “an exercise to ‘empower’ the movement control order (MCO)”, he wrote via text messages, reports Malay Mail.
According to FMT, Dang Wangi police said that the area was under semi-enhanced movement control order (SEMCO) where the residents are allowed to enter and leave the area if they have valid reasons while the authorities could conduct COVID-19 tests on the residents and migrant workers in the area.
