"There's nothing like a really loyal, dependable, good friend. Nothing." - Jennifer Anniston
Life is difficult at times but it doesn't mean that we have to walk through it alone. Friends - they keep us sane, entertain and sometimes fed (Friends who bring you out for food - brownie points!!!). We all need a friend to rely on, even the toughest heart would agree. Here's 7 signs (not exhaustive!) that you've found your friend for life:
1. HOLD YOU ACCOUNTABLE
This basically means being answerable for the choices and decisions that you make. Friends that are not shy to critique you when you've done wrong, who constantly remind you of your values and principles. A friendship of accountability comes from a place where you lower your walls, stow away your pride and willingly accept your flaws when your friend called you out.
2. EFFORT
Friend who actually make an effort to meet up/text/communicate with you are a keeper! Albeit difficult to hold social gatherings for now, having friends who still check up on you every few days or so is a blessing. Regardless the conversation may be short, it is something which you should treasure because it means you're always at the back of their minds.
3. CELEBRATE YOUR SUCCESSES
By celebrating, it could be as simple as saying "Good job!!". Nothing brings more joy than when your friend rejoices with you for every successes you achieved. It could be something trivial like assembling an IKEA furniture on your own (this deserves a celebration btw I KID you not) to getting a pay raise. Doesn't matter what it is, your friend's simply happy for you.
4. RAIN/SHINE
Be it stormy days or sunshine, s/he's present. The friend who's willing to listen whenever you're feeling down, the friend who shares your joy when all's well. To have a friend to weather through with you, be it thick or thin - keep them near your heart because being present shows that s/he care. After all, friendships blossom under care, don't they?
5. INTO THE DETAILS
Friends that know your likings, dislikes, habits (including the weird ones), special dates such as birthdays etc. 'Let's go to your favourite noodle bar for dinner" or "I know you hate coriander" - Simple gestures like that means a lot as they really do pay attention to what you've mentioned before. Having someone other than your family member to remember such details are definitely worth spending time with.
6. COMFORTABLE
You confide in h/she almost every single happening (TMI ALERT). This is a sign that you're extremely comfortable with that person. When you're being comfortable, you'll bound to share every detail even the dullest moment seems like a fair piece of gourmet to you.
7. AMAZING TIME TOGETHER
Last but not least, any time spent with BFF is quality time. It can be where you both hangout at each other's place, eating pizza from a box with the crumbles all strewn over the floor or people watching from a cafe. On the outset, these moments may seem boring to the others but both of you had fun.
That said, if your friends possess any of the above said, know that you are very lucky and very loved!
