Have you got your vaccine yet? Well, if you haven’t, go get it gurl, if you have, you need to get your third shot at this speakeasy in Penang called the Backdoor Bodega. It’s a shot of their Pfizermeister, Sinosour or ExtraGineca that will certainly not prevent COVID-19 but will definitely have side effects the next day.

Backdoor Bodega is a speakeasy in Penang that gives you a peek into the days when it was illegal to sell alcohol, like during the Prohibition. Speakeasies get its name from police officers who had trouble locating the bars due to the fact that people tended to speak quietly while inside the bars.

At Backdoor Bodega you get to live in a fantasy world where you’re a young adult looking to have some fun during terrible times. Well, it isn’t really a fantasy because you know COVID and being stuck at home is terrible, but the Prohibition was worse for sure!

In an interview with FMT, Samir Lim, a 25-year-old mixologist at the speakeasy said that the experience that sparked the idea to create the vaccine inspired cocktails was wondering when they would receive their vaccine appointments.

He said since everyone’s wondering when they can get their vaccines, “Why don’t we send ‘vaccine cocktails’ to them?”

What’s unique about these vaccines inspired cocktails aren’t just because they are made according to the vaccines given in Malaysia but also because the building-blocks of each cocktail cocktail were created based on the nations that made them.

One example given was, the Pfizer inspire cocktail that’s a combination of American Bourbon and Jägermeister Pfizer-BioNTech was a collaboration between a United States and German company.

The ExtraGineca cocktail includes a dash of the English since that’s where it’s from with some fruity Pimm’s and English breakfast tea.

Based on its Chinese origins, The Sinosour cocktails is made with a blend of some Chinese Baijiu with sour plum.

To take the whole vaccine idea to a new level, each cocktail is also served in medical-grade bottles with a syringe! Oh, and they are also very reasonably priced! Each 100ml bottle costs only RM38 or you could get one how set with all 3 vaccines for one RM100!

The Backdoor Bodega team is definitely a group of highly creative artists when it comes to alcohol! Besides these cocktails they even have a Minyak Cap Kapak inspired cocktail called “Cap Pintu Medicated Cocktail”, a minty martini.

How do they even create these cocktails, man, I’m going crazy! According to the interview, it takes hours of experimentation.

But we sincerely thank them for spending all that time experimenting because we get to taste such uniquely Malaysian flavours of cocktails like their Essence of Chicken and even Bird’s Nest alcoholic drinks!

If you’d like to order a vaccine cocktail to celebrate being vaccinated, all you have to do is head over to their website and order it, a few days later you’ll receive your vaccine!
