Netflix's "Squid Game" no longer need any introduction, right? Videos, pictures, and memes already flood the Internet. And it's not just in Asian countries. "Squid Game" is the first Korean series to rank no.1 on Netflix in the US!
Many have since asked for a season 2 as there are too many unanswered questions and loose ends. However, director Hwang Dong Hyuk has previously mentioned that producing the first season was too exhausting so season 2 might not come as soon as we had hoped.
But, it's not all bad news, in a recent interview with Korean channel JTBC's Newsroom, director Hwang has teased about 3 traditional games that will appear IF and WHEN the next season comes!
1. Traditional Spinning Top (팽이)
This is truly a game from the ancient times, and you might only see this from Korean dramas set during those times. The tops are almost cylindrical in shape and after being spun from the whip, you can actually use the whip to keep it spinning or to make it go even faster! We would expect, of course, whoever's top spins the longest will be the winner, but the show might add some twists.
2. Hopscotch (땅따먹기)
You school probably use to have this painted on the ground, but the Korean version is much more complicated than just jumping. You start by throwing a stick at a number, starting from 1, and increasing each round. Then jump with 1 leg to pick the stick up then back.
After doing this 8 times (for 1-8), you stand at the end and throw the stick behind your back. Whichever number it lands on becomes "your property" and the opponent cannot touch it. Whoever gets the most "property" wins.

3. Why Did You Come to My Home? (우리집에왜와)
According to the director, this game provides infinite possibilities as there can be variations in many parts of the game. You split into an attacking and defending team (determined by rock-paper-scissors) then move forwards and backwards as you sing.
A: "Why did you come to my house?"
B: "I came to get a flower."
A: "What flower are you looking for?"
B: "I'm looking for ...."
The attacking team then names a person and it's up to your imagination at this point. Famous Korean variety show "Running Man" played a version where the attacking team had to take off the shoe of their "target"
Besides the games, the director also hinted that the truth about whether officer Joon-Ho is dead or alive, and how his brother "The Front Man" came to become the guy in charge will also be revealed in the second season.
I don't know about you, but I sure can't wait for it to come out!
