However, Scoot Airlines clarified that the incident was caused by mist from the air conditioning and was not related to any technical malfunctions. As a precautionary measure, the decision was made to return to Bangkok, a Scoot spokesperson said.
After landing back in Bangkok at 5.09 pm, the 230 passengers on board the flight were provided with refreshments. According to the flight tracking website Flightradar, the Airbus A321 made at least four turns near Ko Si Chang island in southern Thailand before returning to Bangkok.
The aircraft departed from Suvarnabhumi Airport at 7.27 pm local time after the problem was fixed. The flight then arrived in Singapore at 10.26 pm.
One passenger, identified only as Kumar, said the pilot announced 30 minutes into the flight that there was an issue with the air circulation and they needed to turn back.
"There was a musty smell like something was leaking."
Scoot Airlines also apologized for the inconvenience and difficulties faced by passengers, stating that passenger and crew safety was their top priority.
