A few days ago an eatery near Kuala Lumpur became victim to a fraud upon receiving an order allegedly from "Universiti Malaya" for a 500-individual event on Thursday, June 6th.

After completing all of the agreements, the restaurant's 15 cooks immediately started preparing for the enormous order, procuring materials and making everything ready.

However, it was eventually discovered that the papers were fabricated, and the order was bogus.

This was revealed after the restaurant's official Facebook page, PichaEats, posted about the incident.

On Wednesday, June 5th, the eatery got an urgent inquiry from somebody claiming to represent "Universiti Malaya".

The order was for a 500-individual event set on Friday, June 7th, and stated that the regular vendor had to cancel out at the last minute.

With all relevant documentation signed, the restaurant's 15 cooks jumped into action, purchasing materials and prepping for the large order.

Yet, on the day of the planned event, the restaurant found an unbelievable truth that there was no event.

The documents were forgeries, and the entire transaction was a hoax.

"Long story short, its a scam/prank. There's actually NO event or order and the documents are forged." they shared.

This put the restaurant in a precarious position, with considerable financial losses and an excess of ingredients sufficient for 500 diners.

Additionally, the restaurant discovered that another catering firm had fallen victim to a similar fraud just the day before, resulting in severe financial loss.

In response, the restaurant has filed a police report and notified Universiti Malaya regarding the scammers' exploitation of their identity.

Notwithstanding the loss, the restaurant swiftly adapted, viewing the circumstance as a chance to help the community. They posted a sincere request on social media.

"If you need food for today (lunch, high tea, dinner) for your family, office gathering, or would like to donate so we can distribute the meals to communities in need, please DM us! ".

They also distributed five sets of emergency sale menus, and the response seemed enormous.

"We are currently experiencing a high volume of messages. While we strive to respond to each one, there may be a delay in getting back to you. Your patience is greatly appreciated, and we will do our best to respond as soon as possible" they wrote.

Finally, the restaurant also thanked the netizens for sharing their love and support towards them in this difficult situation.

"Thank you so much for the love and support you've been giving. We really appreciate each and every one of you! ," they posted on their official Facebook account.
