A middle-aged woman in Tung Chung uploaded several photos on Facebook that caused uproar discussion among the netizens. The pictures showed that there was a parrot in a microwave oven. The woman even added "Add dish~ A braised pigeon." as the captain of her post. From that photo, it is clearly seen that the light in the microwave oven was on and the screen of the microwave also showed that the remaining time was 5 minutes. The incident has been on the Internet for hours. Although the netizens were not sure whether the microwave oven was working, they were dissatisfied with the action of the woman and they criticized the woman for alleged animal cruelty. The netizens even found out the identity of that woman. Afterwards, the woman deleted the pictures and posted photos of the parrot and live broadcast with it. She clarified that it was just a joke and proved that Oscar (the parrot) is still alive,

However, a large number of netizens did not accept her apologies and they continued to leave messages to criticize the woman. After facing with the fierce criticism from netizens, she took her parrot to the police station to report to the police, saying that she had been harassed by netizens, and would retain all her legal rights.

The Hong Kong Animal Post informed the public that the mental of the animal would be affected if the people constantly scare the animals although it is funny to see the panic reaction of the animals. The Hong Kong Animal Post also urged the public not to abuse animals or make jokes about animals, because this approach is equivalent to advocating cruelty to animals. Any cruelty to animals would violate the "Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Ordinance" and can be sentenced up to 3 years in prison and a fine of HKD 200,000.
