Another year, another MCO. Stuck at home, within the same boring walls that once confined us.
While it is completely understandable why it is so important to stay at home, we can’t help but admit how boring it is.
One way to look at this whole ordeal positively is to think of it as a way to spend you extra time productively. Here are some new hobbies you can try out, and guess what, if you like doing them, you can actually earn a small profit by selling your creations.
1. Earring Making
Honestly, this is the easiest hobby you can pick up and you can earn quite a good profit selling your creations on Instagram. People love handmade or handcrafted earrings!
You can make simple macrame earrings or if you love the challenge how about trying to make polymer clay earrings. I mean look at how cute they are!
As more and more people join the #SapotLokal movement, you will definitely get Malaysian customers so maybe make some Malaysian-inspired designs.
2. Baking
Who doesn’t love some delicious and rich chocolate chip cookies? Everyone does! And there are millions of recipes online to follow. All you have to do is bake them and people will be throwing money at you for them in no time!
If you don’t like chocolate chip cookies, try something else. Anyone can bake anything. You can bake cakes, brownies, pies whatever you want! Then sell them online!
3. Painting
If you have always had a talent in painting and drawing or sketching, then why not turn this hobby into a business. You can do customized paintings and even sell some of your own random paintings online.
People would definitely go crazy for a customized painting or even a caricature of themselves. You can start small by just doing some small sized artwork for your Instagram friends, one you have enough earning then you can buy more canvases and maybe even try bigger projects.
4. Crocheting
This hobby is definitely for people with a lot of free time and patience, but it will definitely make you feel like you have accomplished something amazing when you’re done!
Start by making some simple tablecloths then move on to tank tops and skirts. You can never go wrong with crochet tops because they are always in style!
5. Candle Making
The scented candle craze is honestly the most profitable hobby to try out. People pay hundreds for scented candles; I don’t know why but I do so too. We just can’t get enough of them.
You will need to invest some money to buy the ingredients first, but every business needs to start with an investment, nothing is free!
Maybe try out a few common scents first before trying to come up with your own scent. Its definitely fun, plus if you don’t sell them, you will never have to buy a gift for someone ever again, just make them a scented candle.
