Although it isn't fair, the reality is that women all over the world go through a lot when it comes to safety. On a daily basis, many among us are discriminated and harassed by society and many of the perpetrators get away with it scot-free.
Recently, a Twitter user with the handle @IsmaDalilah took to social media to share a recording of the driver harassing her and even shared a photo with a warning to other women.
She posted to Twitter asking girls to be careful when using e-hailing services. She stated that at first the uncle asked her where her boyfriend is and after she stated she didn't have a boyfriend, the harassment started.
He remained quiet for a while before asking her if he could ask her a question, when she said yes he asked her "Pernah main tak?" which translates to "Have you played before?".
Confused she asked him what he was talking about and he responded saying "main tidur".
She said when she heard his answer she felt so numb, awkward and her heart was beating so fast.
She said as soon as she reached her destination wanted to quickly pay him and hide somewhere but he continued asking her if she wanted to and even offered to pay her.
She scared that she felt so scared and traumatized by the whole situation. She said that after leaving the vehicle she was shaking in fear and she even cried!
After making a complaint to the e-hailing app, they responded with this message:
They also responded to her Twitter saying that they have received a report about it and action has been taken on the driver in the video. They said that the driver's account has been suspended for investigation and for the safety of users.
They also stated that they don't want anyone to go through what the user had gone through and promise a safe journey to all their users.
Watch the video here, you can feel the tension and the fear in her voice when the disgusting man offered to pay her:
Women should have the right the feel safe at all times. It is unfair that they should constantly live in fear and not be able to live life freely and do things without the fear of being harassed.
