AR Rahman's concert was what everyone was talking about during the weekend, and Malaysians have been gushing about it ever since it took place yesterday night.
Dato Siti Nurhaliza (@ctdk) has undoubtedly captivated the crowd with her stage presence, voice, and ability to sing in Tamil when she dominated the song "Munbe Vaa."
However, an influencer who went to the concert uploaded a story of her on Instagram with the remark "Pening dengar lagu k*ling."
In the video, it's seen that she was seated in the VIP section of the concert when she posted her IG story.
Since then, Malaysians have gone berserk and called her out for her inappropriate behavior and use of language that denigrated the community.
Video creator, @suriya_17 brought this to everyone's attention and posted on his Instagram with the caption, "Taking a minute to make sure y'all don't do anything stupid like her. If you don't like a language, remember that no one forced you to listen. The nerves you had to use the word KELING, god! Please remember that we're at peace and don't use words that shouldn't be used especially when you claim yourself as a public figure and you have a big followers list. Spread loving messages, not insulting ones. Thank you and have a nice day. @fatinamyralee."
The fact that there are people who freely discuss this without any concern is definitely something to be offended about. Malaysians have worked hard to create a more accepting community where we respect everyone's ethnicity and religion.
Since then, her video has gone viral; as a result, she privatized her Instagram account.
Malaysians, let's be more polite and consider of other people's cultures, yeah?
