Lau Chin Chua, Special Officer to the Kelantan Chief Minister, explains that this includes issues related to dress code in public places and business premises.
"In the Kota Bharu Municipal Council (MPKB) area, they are subject to rules and laws. It has been explained that employees on business premises must dress modestly.
"However, when an employee is dressed inappropriately, it is not wrong that he/she is being fined," said Lau.
He explained that the regulations regarding dress codes apply to both Muslims and non-Muslims in the state governed by PAS and confirmed that the regulation is well comprehended by all the people in Kelantan.
Further commenting, Lau said the fine was imposed because the individual was "dressed as if not wearing pants."
"She wore very short pants to the point that people thought she wasn't wearing pants and only wore a shirt. Then she changed her pants and showed a picture of her being fined (which went viral)."
Lau also claims that: "Non-Muslims in Kelantan are not oppressed or suppressed, contrary to the perception created by some parties. We are given freedom as long as we do not violate the law.
If anyone does not have a true picture, please come to Kelantan and see for yourself how harmonious the lives of non-Muslims are here."
