The actions of an e-hailing driver, who showed goodwill towards a man claiming he needed to step out of the vehicle to get money, turned into a disaster when the passenger fled without making payment.
The incident was captured in a viral video uploaded on the GrabCar Driver Johor Bahru group. The caption on the video posted on Tuesday read, "Got out of the Grab and said he wanted to get cash, then he ran off. Other drivers, please be cautious."
In the dash cam footage, the passenger, wearing a purple jacket, can be heard asking the driver about the fare after reaching the designated destination. He then sought the driver's permission to go get cash, saying, "Just a moment, I'll get cash (money). Just going to the restaurant," before immediately leaving the vehicle.
The time and date stamped on the video suggest that the incident occurred last Sunday, but the exact location of the incident couldn't be confirmed.
In the comments section, it appears that several netizens, who are believed to work as e-hailing drivers, shared their experiences of facing similar situations. At the same time, some netizens offered advice to the driver on how to be more cautious and take preventive measures in such situations.
