What might be an acceptable practice for other countries, may not be as tolerable in foreign territories, as one viral video recently showcased.
The video, which has been making its rounds on social media, has unfortunately landed a food seller in hot water with the public after his unhygienic practices were discovered by the public.
Garnering more than 400 thousand views, the recording takes place at a roadside food market and displays the foreign trader packing food by utilizing his hands, and nothing else, while being surrounded by his customers.
After the exposure of the video, many netizens have taken to social media comparing the traders attitude to those local street food vendors in India. With seemingly not enough tables, it can also be seen that he had taken a supermarket trolley to place his items up for sale.
As reported by Sinar Harian, it is believed that the food hawker has been conducting his business nearby every Friday at the Al-Bukhary Mosque, along Jalan Hang Tuah.
It's come as no surprise that the public hasn't received this act extremely positively. Urging authorities such as DBKL and KKM to take action, many netizens are shocked at the weakness of the enforcement system, allowing peddlers to openly sell their products in this manner.
"We want to get a license it's bloody hard to get... He comes to KL and can do business. How did he get a license, DBKL please investigate," commented Facebook user Yahya Othman
Netizens have also urged the authorities to investigate and take action as soon as possible as they believe they do not have proper permission to do business there, especially when the condition of their food sales which are deemed to be unsanitary.
While we understand many sellers are just trying to earn enough money to feed and support their families, rules & regulations must still be followed and we do hope that authorities will take action and teach him the right ways to allow him to continue his business in the correct order and fashion.
