A security guard of a variety store in Michigan, a state in the US, was shot and killed for telling a customer to put on a state-mandated face mask.
Calvin Munerlyn, 43, was rushed to the hospital after he was shot in the head on Friday (May 1). He died in the hospital, according to Michigan State Police Lt. David Kaiser as reported by CNN.
It is learnt that Munerlyn got into a verbal altercation with Sharmel Teague, 45, at the store after he asked Teague’s daughter to wear a mask. Teague then left in an SUV, but her husband, Larry Edward Teague, 44, and son, Ramonyea Travon Bishop, 23, returned 20 minutes later in the same car.
“One of them yelled at Munerlyn about disrespecting his wife, Leyton said. The other man, later identified as Bishop, then allegedly shot the security guard,” the Genesee County Prosecutor's Office said in a statement.
The three suspects have been charged with first-degree premeditated murder. Sharmel Teague has been taken into custody, while Larry Teague and Bishop are still on the run. Police are looking for the two suspects.
