A man recently shared the "cost" of being in a relationship as advice for those who are currently dating or seeking a partner. In his revelation, he disclosed that he spent approximately RM4,610 on his girlfriend in just one year of dating. The sharing, posted in a Facebook group, included screenshots detailing every expense he and his partner incurred.
According to his account, if they had stayed in and spent time at home, it would have been more economical. However, because their relationship was still new, they felt it necessary to go out and meet at least once a week. As is customary for couples, they enjoyed going out for dinner, followed by desserts, and only engaged in other activities such as watching movies and so on during the fourth week.
Furthermore, he mentioned that he usually paid for their dinners, while his girlfriend would cover the cost of desserts and the activities they engaged in. Additionally, he noted that their expenses would increase during public holidays, with all the activities they undertook during those holidays being his responsibility.
The man clarified that his post was not directed at anyone in particular, but rather served as advice for those who fail to consider the financial aspect of relationships. Based on the shared screenshots, he spent RM280 monthly, which would increase to RM530 during certain holidays. This included surprise gifts for his girlfriend during special occasions in those months.
Some netizens labelled him as "stingy" for listing all the expenses incurred during their relationship. At the same time, many believed the costs were "reasonable," while some thought they were not excessively high.
