Recently, Malaysians were left puzzled when the Road Transport Department's (JPJ) MyJPJ app suddenly introduced a requirement for users to log in using MyDigital ID, a feature many were unfamiliar with. The announcement stirred confusion, as users found themselves uncertain about what MyDigital ID was and how it would affect their ability to access the MyJPJ app.
In response to the widespread concerns, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook addressed the issue, stating that the previously set deadline of October 10 for the mandatory use of MyDigital ID for MyJPJ app logins has been removed. However, Loke clarified that this decision does not mean the integration of MyDigital ID with MyJPJ is completely off the table. The implementation has only been postponed, allowing for further adjustments.
MyDigital ID, in an official statement on its Facebook page, apologized to users for the confusion caused by the announcement. They emphasized that the single login feature using MyDigital ID for the MyJPJ app has been temporarily deferred to ensure smooth operations and to address any technical issues. Despite this, MyDigital ID login remains available as an option for those who prefer using it for easier access to the app.
Elaborating on the situation, MyDigital ID CEO Mohd Mirza Mohd Noor, in an interview with BERNAMA, explained that users will still have the flexibility to log in using either their existing MyJPJ credentials or MyDigital ID during this suspension period.
"The Minister has just announced the postponement of the implementation of the single login feature, which allows users to log in with only one account. During this suspension period, users can still choose to use their existing MyJPJ login or MyDigital ID to access the application," Mohd Mirza stated.
While the single login feature has been delayed, MyDigital ID may eventually become the standard method for accessing the MyJPJ app once the technical issues are resolved, meaning users should familiarize themselves with the system to ensure a smoother transition in the future.
