An Indonesian Instagram model, Sarah Keihl, shocked the public when she offered to sell her virginity for COVID-19 relief. However, she later apologized and clarified that it was “satire”.
Sarah Salsabila, also known as Sarah Keihl recently uploaded a video saying that she is auctioning her virginity at a starting price of IDR 2 billion (about RM 585,600). The money, she said, would go to the frontliners and those who were financially affected by the pandemic.
Instead of receiving compliments like she might have expected, Sarah’s ‘offer’ got numerous backlashes from netizens. It was then that she posted an apology for the stunt and claimed that she was being sarcastic to people who take the COVID-19 lightly.
“I’m sorry for creating the controversy, ” she said. “In truth, the virginity auction was my idea of satire of those who aren’t sensitive to the situation.”
She further added that she realized the severity of her action and in order to atone for her mistake, she would be donating 1,000 groceries aids using her own money.
“That money is halal, I have never sold myself or my dignity,” she said.
