That time of the month sucks! But, it only gets worse, with the risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS)? Yes, ladies,
TSS is real!
While it's extremely rare (say 1 in 100,000 women), you still have to be cautious of TSS! Here's why:
TSS comes from a bacterial infection that could lead to your limbs being amputated, renal failure & death if left untreated!
Check if you ever had these symptoms out of the blue.
- sudden fever
- confusion
- diarrhea
- dizziness
- feeling faint
- headache
- low blood pressure
-muscle aches
- nausea
- redness of the eyes, mouth & throat
- seizures
- vomiting
- sunburn-like rashes
So, how do you escape from TSS? Follow these tips:
1- Change your tampon every 4 to 8 hours.
2- Use tampons with low absorbency.
3- Only unwrap the tampon if you are going to use it immediately.
4- Avoid applicator tampons, as the applicator may scrape the vaginal walls.
5- Use sanitary pads instead of tampons overnight,
6- Try using pads or panty liners during the last day or if your flow is light.
7- Use lubricating jelly when inserting tampons during the last day or if your flow is light.
