Part of the assets belonging to controversial cosmetics entrepreneur, Nur Sajat were seized to pay a compensation of RM200,000 to OWA Resources Sdn Bhd which failed to be paid.
The seizure order was issued by the Deputy Registrar of the High Court, Farah Wahida Md. Nor after allowing the applications of Nurwati Hussin, 41 and Mohamed Syakir Hussin, 32 from OWA Resources.
The seizure and sale were carried out at 10.30am this morning at Sajat's house in Kota Damansara, Selangor.
The decision was made after the court found that Muhammad Sajjad did not respond to pay compensation after failing in her appeal in the Court of Appeal last April to quash the Shah Alam High Court's decision ordering her to pay compensation to OWA Resources.
Lawyers for Nurul Hafidzah Hassan and Zeti Zulkifli, who represented Nurwati and Syakir, said the clients were focused on getting the compensation ordered to be paid by the court.
According to him, the seized goods will be auctioned below the market price to redeem the compensation to be paid to the plaintiffs.
"The writ of seizure and sale has been pasted at the defendant's premises today and if the defendant does not make payment, all the seized items will be auctioned on December 14," he said.
"If the amount of money collected from the auction is still insufficient through the sale of goods that have been seized today, the clients will take the next step to seize other assets that can be seized and sold," he said.
