A 34-year-old civil enforcement officer has recently been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) early this morning after he was suspected of being involved in covering up an illegal cryptocurrency mining operation.

According to sources, he was allegedly protecting multiple illegal bitcoin mining centers in Perak and was paid RM12,000 paid per month in return. The illegal centers were reportedly running on stolen electricity.

The results of the interrogation also revealed that this isn't an isolated case and several senior officials of enforcement agencies are apparently involved in the syndicate as well. As of right now, the investigation is still ongoing, and the MACC is not ruling out the possibility that more arrests will be made in relation to this case.

Yet another corruption case in Malaysia. Nothing new, ey?
