The well-known "Python of Fortune" from Kuching, Sarawak, passed away peacefully on April 30 and was cremated on May 1 after being placed in a custom-made coffin by its owner's family last night.
The python was raised by its owner for 33 years in a residence located in the Kampung Stutong Baru area of Kuching.
The python began experiencing health issues, including shedding its skin, about a week ago. The owner called in a doctor who prescribed painkillers and anti-inflammatory injections to be administered daily. Unfortunately, due to the python's advanced age, its condition did not improve, and it passed away last night.
The python was considered a member of the owner's family, and every Chinese New Year's Eve, it was allowed to roam freely inside the house during their reunion dinner. The sudden departure of "Brother Peng" was a significant loss to the family, who expressed their gratitude to the public for their interest and love for the snake.
After being placed in a coffin by its owner's family, the python's body was cremated and its ashes were returned home to be kept as a memorial.
