It has just been reported by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) that the suspect who opened fire at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 Arrival Hall, Hafizul Hawari, 38, has been arrested in Kota Bharu, Kelantan today.
"Yes, I confirm (the arrest). The suspect was arrested at 3pm today in Kota Bharu", says Ketua Polis Negara, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain and reported by Astro Awani.
Earlier today, Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain stated that police are looking for information from Hafizul Harawi's relatives and friends.
Before the arrest took place, Hafizul's mother, Hayati Bakri and his father, Hawari Mohd Sihat, as well as his five siblings begged for the suspect to surrender to the police. - Berita Harian
Hafizul Harawi opened fire at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Sunday and fled. The suspect fired two gunshots with one round hurting a victim who was posed as a personal bodyguard for his wife.
The gunman also has three prior criminal records, two of which were filed by his wife for harassment. As a result, in December 2023, following the harassment lawsuit, his wife hired two bodyguards. He also has a history of stealing and pretending to be a public official.
PDRM announced on their official Facebook page that they will be having a press conference on the subject shortly.
