Others who had made lengthy trips and inadvertently left family members behind at gas stations and rest areas reported similar experiences.
"We once unintentionally left him at a petrol station. We didn't notice he was gone, and after driving for a short while, we realised he wasn't with us," claimed user @citamku. But when we came back to fetch him, he was in someone else's car. He has brought it up to the family every time up to now."
"My mother used a wheelchair," said another user, @amymahmud_11. We took a break to eat at the rest area. I parked, removed the wheelchair and my mum took a seat. I left my mum by the side of the car, shutting the hood and driving off. I didn't think of my mother until after I had been driving for a bit. My spouse believed that I had already pushed my mother.
