In a bizarre case of suspected spying, Japanese authorities have arrested a man for making hundreds of silent phone calls to his wife every day. According to reports from Oddity Central, the harassment began in early July, with the 31-year-old woman from Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture, receiving mysterious phone calls from unknown numbers.
The troubling calls started on July 10 and continued relentlessly until August. With the caller remaining silent on the other end of the line, and with numbers frequently changing, it was nearly impossible for the woman to block them. While most days saw dozens of calls, on certain days, her phone would ring more than 100 times.
Despite the ongoing harassment, a curious pattern emerged: the calls would stop at night and during periods when the woman was using her husbands phone to play games. This peculiar detail led her to suspect that her own husband might be the one behind the incessant calls.
Desperate to get to the bottom of the situation, the woman began analyzing the call patterns. She noticed that the only times the calls ceased were when they slept together at night or when she had access to her husbands mobile phone. Convinced of his involvement, she decided to file a police report to confirm her suspicions.
After a thorough investigation, law enforcement officials identified the husband as the mysterious caller. On September 4, he was arrested for violating Japan's anti-stalking laws. When questioned about his actions, the man revealed an unusual motive: "I love my wife and made these calls without saying anything," he claimed, believing that the silent calls were a sign of his deep love for her.
Authorities in Japan have noted that cases of remote spying on partners are not uncommon, especially involving couples in long-distance relationships. However, this incident in Amagasaki marks the first known case involving a couple living together. The husbands arrest serves as a stark reminder of the severity of stalking and harassment, even within the confines of marriage.
